Buchkinder Basel

— Children love and need stories: They are the small and the big doors to the world. “Buchkinder Basel” is a writing and book workshop for children: They independently develop a story, write it down, draw their own pictures, discuss the layout and design of the book with us. Then text and images are printed and the book is bound. Children identify intensively with the topic of reading, book and writing and they develop a respect for their language.

— We also organise public events in Basel, such as the "Stories on Sunday Afternoons" once a month in the Literaturhaus, "Stories in the Park", the big reading festival once a year in Kannenfeldpark and the "Children's Book Festival" in November as part of the "BuchBasel" literature festival.

— Every year a calendar is created collectively. The 2024 calendar features collages of colourful, fantastic flowers: «Flowers, for instance, because where would we be without them?» (Margaret Atwood, The Handmaid’s Tale).
