Stories on Sunday
For children from 5 years and families at the Literaturhaus Basel. Free admission + breakfast or snack. Doors open: approx. 10 minutes before the start of the event.

A reading festival for everyone, in and around Basel: two books have been selected: ‘The things by name’ by Rebekka Salm for adults and the children's book ‘Otto from Something’ by Peter Stamm. All dates and informations: www.buchraumbasel.ch

23 May 2025, 6:30 pm – Urs Schaub reads from Rebekka Salm's book ‘Die Dinge beim Namen’ the chapter with Freddy, the beetle collector | Frey Beetle Collection at the Natural History Museum Basel | Admission free | Duration of the reading: 40 minutes | Followed by a discussion with the audience

Children's Book Festival
The Children's Book Festival is an integral part of the international literature festival BuchBasel. Authors and illustrators will present their new works. The next Children's Book Festival will take place on 15–16 November 2025.

Stories in Kannenfeldpark
The big reading festival always takes place on the last Sunday in August: Stories from all over the world are read aloud every thirty minutes in eight Mongolian yurts in Kannenfeldpark. With GGG Stadtbibliothek, Bibliothek St. Johann Jukibu, Baobab Books, Vorstadttheater, Bibliothek PZ.BS, KJM Basel, Musikbox der Vera Oeri Bibliothek, Club der Vorlesenden und Basel Authors. The next event will take place in September 2025.


Club of the Readers
In a one-day basic seminar, all topics and principles for the work as a volunteer reader are discussed and worked on. Those who have attended this seminar are accepted into the Club of the readers, receive a certificate, an ID card and an annual pass from the GGG public library.
