Ilaria Curti – born in Michigan, grew up in Italy, ended up in Switzerland – is an architect and visual designer. After studying architecture in Milan and living for ten years in Munich, she lives now with her family in Basel. Since 2009, she has been designing the postcards, posters and brochures for Buchkinde Basel's various events, and above all supports the children in creating their own books.
 
Urs Schaub is a theater director and author. He has staged on many stages, was director of acting in Darmstadt, followed by visiting professorships at the UDK Berlin and the Mozarteum in Salzburg. He later directed the acting theater at the Stadttheater Bern and the Theater- und Musikhaus Kaserne Basel. He has written several crime novels and a volume of short stories. The author lives with his family in Basel. He has been involved in reading promotion projects since 2009 and is often on the road as a reader.
 
Ilaria and Urs founded the Buchkinder Workshop in 2012.

Association «Buchkinder Basel»

After an intensive development phase and ten years of reading promotion in the education department of Basel-Stadt, the association “Buchkinder Basel” was founded in 2019 as the supporter for all of these developed reading promotion activities.

The activities include:

  • Buchkinder Basel writing and book workshop

  • Stories on Sunday afternoon

  • Stories in the park – The big reading festival in Kannenfeldpark

  • The children's book festival BuchBasel

  • The Lecturers' Club

  • Nights of stories

  • Consulting
